Human resources management systems (HRMS) often contain data that may be very useful to your management of user objects in Active Directory.

For example, employee identification numbers (EID), job codes, department codes, and other data can be very useful if imported into custom attributes in Active Directory. This can help from uniquely identifying users to creating and managing groups, and more.

Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange or Office 365 need to work closely together. Exchange is especially well‑suited for management with PowerShell, as it was specifically designed with this functionality in mind.
